Real PVC Fence Installation Project in Napier, NZ

- 3 min read
This Hawke’s Bay fencing project involved replacing an old boundary fence with a modern PVC fencing system designed to improve privacy, security and street appeal. Before construction could begin in Napier, existing trees and garden areas had to be cleared so the new fence line could be properly prepared.
#1 Preparing The Site For PVC Fence Installation
A large amount of preparation work went into this project before the fence panels could be installed. The site first needed to be levelled and cleared to create a straight fence line and stable foundations. Once the area was prepared, the PVC fence posts were carefully positioned and concreted into place.
#2 Installing The Fence Posts & Concrete Nib
After the posts were installed, timber boxing was set up for the concrete nib running beneath the fence. The concrete truck was then brought in to complete the pour. This stage helps create a clean finish at ground level while also improving the long-term stability and appearance of the fence.
#3 Installing The PVC Fence Panels
We understand that homeowners do not want their property left open during construction any longer than necessary. For this reason, the PVC fence panels were installed the very next day after the concrete nib had cured enough to continue. The property was quickly secured again with a strong new boundary fence.
#4 Completed PVC Fence Project
The completed fence used an open-top trellis design which remains one of the most popular PVC fencing styles we install throughout Napier, Hastings and Havelock North. Because the cost difference between trellis-top and closed-top panels is very small, many homeowners choose the open style for its cleaner appearance and decorative finish. Closed-top fencing is still a great option for properties requiring additional privacy.
Once complete, the new PVC fence completely transformed the appearance of the property while restoring privacy and security. The clean modern finish, combined with the concrete nib and decorative top panels, created a durable low-maintenance fencing solution suited to Hawke’s Bay conditions.
Most of the PVC fence installation was completed over just a few days, helping minimise disruption and restore privacy to the property quickly.
What Affects PVC Fence Installation Costs?
PVC fencing costs can vary depending on the height of the fence, the style of panels selected, site access, excavation requirements and whether additional concrete work is required.
For this project, the installation included site clearing, post foundations, a concrete nib and an additional parking pad, all of which influence the overall project cost.
#5 Extra Concrete Parking Pad
During the project, the client also requested an additional concrete parking pad beside the new fence. Reinforcing mesh was installed before the concrete was poured and finished to create a durable off-street parking area. While the concrete was curing, a bird briefly walked across the surface leaving footprints behind, but they were quickly repaired before the final finish was completed.
Why This Fence Was Chosen
The client chose PVC fencing because they wanted a clean modern appearance combined with a durable low-maintenance boundary fence suitable for a new build property.
