Concrete Work
Whether your project is big or small, we are here to prepare your concrete pad with care and precision. Our experienced team brings a wealth of knowledge and can deliver the finish you are looking for. We also work closely with our plumber to ensure drainage and access are handled correctly from the very beginning.
On this page you will see many examples of our work. There are stamped and coloured jobs, exposed aggregate and of course plain concrete.
Preparing quotes is relatively quick and painless. Send us an email with your contact details. We will then visit and send you a quote within a day or two.
If you choose to go ahead, we ask for a $300 deposit to book a date for your work to start. We will also draw up a contract so you have peace of mind knowing that your job is set out in a contract, and if the finished job is not as expected, you are able to demonstrate what should have happened. With everything is writing there is never a need for any stress.
So, explore the site and send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
OUR CONCRETE
Standard concrete typically has a plain white appearance and a strength of 20MPa. After extensive experience in placing concrete, we have found that using steel mesh in conjunction with 25MPa concrete results in fewer cracks. The mesh contributes to the structural integrity of the concrete, reducing the occurrence of larger visible cracks.
Transitioning from 20MPa to 25MPa concrete will incur an additional cost of approximately $15 per square meter. Implementing 665 seismic steel mesh will add around $12 per square metre to your basic concrete cost.
Understandably, customers wish to minimise expenses while avoiding cracks in their concrete. However, it must be acknowledged that all concrete possesses the potential to crack, and no concrete placer can guarantee their concrete will be entirely free of cracks.
For this reason, we generally use 25MPa concrete and steel mesh. Since adopting this practice, we have observed a significant reduction in cracking incidents and, consequently, fewer challenging discussions with customers regarding the inevitability of cracks in concrete.
Additionally, we distinguish ourselves by employing a 165kg plate compactor as standard. Every concrete installation involves at least 50mm of crushed stone that requires thorough compression to establish a solid foundation for the concrete. While most companies use a 60kg compactor, we have determined that it does not provide sufficient compaction. Upgrading to the larger machine has enabled us to achieve better concrete placement with fewer complications.
Our years of expertise are brought to every project, ensuring you receive the finish and quality you expect.

Plain Concrete
Standard concrete with either 13 or 19mm stones. This concrete can be finished in several ways, but is always a bright white colour when dry. It will eventually get dirty and go a grey colour, but for the first year or two, it will be quite a bright white.
Black Oxide (various percentages)
We often add 3% black oxide if our clients do not want bright white concrete. This leaves the concrete a pale blue colour. The higher the percentage of oxide, the blacker the concrete. Exposed aggregate often uses a much higher dose of black oxide, around 10% to achieve a dark grey, almost black colour.
Coloured Concrete

We can either add colour to the concrete before it is poured, or we can cast colour powder across the newly laid concrete and work it into the mix. There are dozens of colours to choose from, so you can really get what you want without too much difficulty.
Stamped Concrete
There are over 75 patterns, from rough-cut ashlar to random stone, and from used brick to wood plank textures, available in various sizes, joints, grout lines and configurations. All brick form textures have been designed with strict attention to detail. This technique enhances the aesthetic appeal of the concrete. The intricate patterns and textures created can mimic various materials such as brick, slate, or wood, making it a versatile option for different design preferences.
Stamped concrete is often used in patios, driveways, pool decks, and even interior floors, providing a cost-effective alternative to other paving materials. It offers the advantage of being customizable, allowing homeowners and designers to create unique spaces that reflect their personal style.
Moreover, maintenance is relatively straightforward. Regular cleaning and resealing every few years keep the surface looking fresh and vibrant, ensuring that the investment in stamped concrete remains worthwhile over time.
In conclusion, stamped concrete is a remarkable way to add character and beauty to any space, transforming ordinary surfaces into extraordinary features with both visual and functional benefits.
Concrete Frequently Asked Questions
How thick should a concrete slab be for a driveway or patio?
The thickness depends on the intended use. Typically, driveways are poured at 100 mm to 150 mm, while patios and footpaths can be 75 mm to 100 mm. Heavier loads may require thicker slabs and additional reinforcement.
How long does concrete take to cure?
Concrete sets within a few hours (depending on weather), but it continues to cure and gain strength for at least 28 days. It is usually safe to walk on after 24–48 hours and drive on after 7 days, but heavy vehicles should wait the full 28 days if possible.
Should ground be prepared before pouring concrete?
Yes, ground preparation is crucial. The area should be excavated, levelled, compacted, and a base layer (often crushed stone or gravel) is recommended. Proper preparation prevents cracking and settling.
What maintenance does concrete require?
Concrete is relatively low-maintenance. Sealing the surface helps protect against stains, weather, and wear. Cleaning with a broom and occasional washing is usually sufficient. Promptly address any cracks to prevent water ingress.
Why does concrete crack, and can it be prevented?
Cracking is common due to shrinkage during curing, temperature changes, or ground movement. Control joints, proper reinforcement, and correct curing minimise cracking, but minor cracks are often unavoidable.
Can concrete be coloured or textured?
Yes, concrete can be coloured using pigments or stains, and various finishes (such as exposed aggregate, stamped, or broom finishes) can provide texture and unique appearance for driveways, patios, or paths.
How much concrete do I need, and how is it delivered?
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area to calculate the volume (in cubic metres). Concrete is typically delivered by truck as ready-mix. If the amount is below 0.6 cubic metres we will typically mix this on site with a smaller mixer.
If there's leftover concrete?
We will take away any excess concrete and clean up after ourselves.
